My Shopaholic Day

So my movie date with my friend last Saturday was so much fun as expected. We have the same shift schedule at work 9 PM to 6 AM only he reports at our company’s site in Shaw Boulevard while I am assigned here in Makati. Since we agreed to watch the movie at Glorietta, he had to travel more than 30 minutes to meet me. We planned to have breakfast first before going to the mall. He arrive a few minutes before 7 o’clock, we then hailed a taxi to bring us to the flea market in Salcedo Village of Makati City. It was our second time to visit that place which we secretly call as “the market of Makati’s high and mighty”. It’s actually a park on regular days but on weekends it becomes a flea market flocked by many market vendors and patronized mostly by the rich residents of the area. There are a lot of food choices there so instead of eating out on fast food which is often the case if you’re working in a call center since they are the ones open 24/7 that you actually feel nauseated with just the smell of it (no offense meant), Alex and I opted to have breakfast there in the market. We chatted while enjoying our meal and updated each other with the latest happening on our lives.

Alex and I started working for the same company on the same year. We both signed our contract on the same day (November 04, 2004) and underwent training together. Although, I made friends with almost all of my batch mates he was a little special. From the first day we met it seemed like we’re attached on the hips. He’s gay and maybe that’s one reason why we clicked. He’s literally a woman trapped in a man’s body. Since I was a newbie from the far-flung town in Mindanao, he was practically the one who introduced me to the city life. He taught me how to ride the MRT, how to commute from one place to another and the best or rather safest places to hang out.

Two years ago he transferred to another account in another site. We rarely see each other since then. Although, we constantly chat and send email to one another almost everyday it’s not half as fun when we’re physically together. That’s why whenever we decide to meet up; all else becomes second priority.

The movie was just perfect for our get together. We are both self-confessed shopaholic although I am nothing compared to him. He’s a lot impulsive than I am LOL! We just kept on laughing on almost every scene; we find the movie really funny simply because we can relate to the main character’s impulse on buying things.

I went home with a smile on my face and although I was so sleepy and tired with our rendezvous it was all worth it. We now have a new way of greeting each other in SMS or in the chat room and it’s “Hey! Do we need it?” Because that’s the question the main character asks her self when she feels the urge to buy and shop for more. LOL!
