My Shopaholic Day

So my movie date with my friend last Saturday was so much fun as expected. We have the same shift schedule at work 9 PM to 6 AM only he reports at our company’s site in Shaw Boulevard while I am assigned here in Makati. Since we agreed to watch the movie at Glorietta, he had to travel more than 30 minutes to meet me. We planned to have breakfast first before going to the mall. He arrive a few minutes before 7 o’clock, we then hailed a taxi to bring us to the flea market in Salcedo Village of Makati City. It was our second time to visit that place which we secretly call as “the market of Makati’s high and mighty”. It’s actually a park on regular days but on weekends it becomes a flea market flocked by many market vendors and patronized mostly by the rich residents of the area. There are a lot of food choices there so instead of eating out on fast food which is often the case if you’re working in a call center since they are the ones open 24/7 that you actually feel nauseated with just the smell of it (no offense meant), Alex and I opted to have breakfast there in the market. We chatted while enjoying our meal and updated each other with the latest happening on our lives.

Alex and I started working for the same company on the same year. We both signed our contract on the same day (November 04, 2004) and underwent training together. Although, I made friends with almost all of my batch mates he was a little special. From the first day we met it seemed like we’re attached on the hips. He’s gay and maybe that’s one reason why we clicked. He’s literally a woman trapped in a man’s body. Since I was a newbie from the far-flung town in Mindanao, he was practically the one who introduced me to the city life. He taught me how to ride the MRT, how to commute from one place to another and the best or rather safest places to hang out.

Two years ago he transferred to another account in another site. We rarely see each other since then. Although, we constantly chat and send email to one another almost everyday it’s not half as fun when we’re physically together. That’s why whenever we decide to meet up; all else becomes second priority.

The movie was just perfect for our get together. We are both self-confessed shopaholic although I am nothing compared to him. He’s a lot impulsive than I am LOL! We just kept on laughing on almost every scene; we find the movie really funny simply because we can relate to the main character’s impulse on buying things.

I went home with a smile on my face and although I was so sleepy and tired with our rendezvous it was all worth it. We now have a new way of greeting each other in SMS or in the chat room and it’s “Hey! Do we need it?” Because that’s the question the main character asks her self when she feels the urge to buy and shop for more. LOL!

First Released Photo of Rihanna After the Attack

There have been a lot of stories and rumors running around regarding the altercation between Rihanna and Chris Brown. Many have their own versions and speculations as both parties kept their silence and didn't confirm anything. Yet, an evidence has been leaked to the public of Rihanna being badly beaten.

TMZ has obtained the first photo of Rihanna after the attack--and it's not pretty. It's really obvious that the contusions on her forehead were true as well as her getting a bloody lip and nose.

It's not yet known who leaked the photo to the press but the LAPD released their statement regarding the unauthorized release of the photograph which will probably end up to someone being fired soon.

This is just so distressing and I can only hope for Rihanna to have enough strength to get over this tough time and come out as a stronger and better person.

Movie Dates on Weekend

I have a line up of movies to watch on weekend with two different sets of friends. At least, I won't be watching the same movie on these dates since they have different prefences.

Tomorrow, Saturday, I have a date with my friend Alex to watch "The Confessions of a Shopaholic". Supposedly, our other buddy, Princess, will be joining us however, she suffered from LBM the other day and is currently an out-patient for further observation so she obviously, won't be able to make it. Too bad, since I was really looking forward to seeing her. We haven't seen each other yet since her return from Singapore last December. Well, I can only pray for her speedy recovery so we can set up another meeting soon.

Come Sunday, I have a date with girl friends Lexi, Shiela and Kat to watch "He's Just Not That into You". I have been waiting for this film for so long and finally, it's showing here now in Manila.

Both films were based in books written with the same titles. Lexi already has a copy of the book "He's Just Not That Into You" but I haven't borrowed it yet since I want to watch the movie first. In most cases -where in I read the book before watching the movie- I get disappointed. Now, I just want to enjoy the movie and not be too critical about it which is often the case if I already read the book.

Still, I'm pretty sure I'll have a good time with the company of my friends more than the movies. So, I just wish you'll have the same good weekend too. ^_^

Lovin' My New Look

I have been sporting this chic and awesome layout for the past two weeks. Many of my frequent visitors as well as some of my blogger friends have noticed the changes on this blog. Well, I think it's high time for me to give credit to the person who worked really hard in over hauling this blog and she's none other than Ivy of The Designer Chic.

Ivy is truly amazing and I really commend her for being patient in dealing with me. I admit I am quite a fussy and demanding client. LOL! Sorry for really giving you a hard time Ivs. I just can't thank you enough. It's a job well done and I must say all your hard work really paid off.

Thanks also to my dear cousin Ellaine of Lainy's Musings for dropping your two cents from time to time in beautifying my blog. Your suggestions really helped a lot for Ivy and I to come up with the perfect concept.

I am really enjoying my new look and I hope you all like it too. ^_^

MM - Foolish Heart - Steve Perry

Nothing beats Music Monday in starting up my week right LOL! So here's another love song for this "LOVE" month. Please forgive my eternal hopeless romantic soul, but I did promise to feature pure love songs for this month.

The beautiful song "Foolish Heart" has been an old time favorite, and many good singers from different countries have their own version of the song which was originally sung by Steve Perry. He is a popular singer and song writer and the former vocalist of the rock band JOURNEY. Now, this famous band has a very talented Filipino as their lead vocalist, Arnel Pineda.

So here's "Foolish Heart" for all the hopeless romantic out there.

MM - Weak - SWV

Since February is famous for being the "LOVE" month, I have decided to feature nothing but love songs for the remaining Music Mondays of this month.

I have lots of favorite love songs so, I'm really having a hard time choosing what to share to you today. But since I was able to catch a local morning show in TV 'Boy and Kris' and they had one of the best local performers 'Freestyle' as their guest this morning wherein they sang one of my all-time favorite love song, and so here it is, "Weak" by SWV for this week's MM.

SWV, also known as Sisters With Voices, is an American Grammy-award nominated female R&B/Pop trio from New York. Formed in 1990, SWV had a series of hits, including "Weak", "Right Here/Human Nature", "I'm So Into You". The group disbanded in 1999 and pursued solo projects in different genres. SWV is currently ranked #100 on Top 500 Pop Artists of the Past 25 Years They have also gone on to sell over 15 million albums worldwide and 27 million including singles. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Sharing an Awesome Picture

Last January 28, 2009 something incredibly awesome happened which was immortalized in a photo taken for us to have something to remember and for the future generation to look back to.

A Partial Eclipse Over Manila Bay Credit & Copyright: Armando Lee (Astron. League Philippines), F. Naelga Jr., 100 Hours of Astronomy (IYA2009)

Explanation: What happened to the setting Sun? An eclipse! Last January 28, 2009, the Moon eclipsed part of the Sun as visible from parts of Africa, Australia, and Asia. In particular the above image, taken from the Mall of Asia seawall, caught a partially eclipsed Sun setting over Manila Bay in the Philippines. Piers are visible in silhouette in the foreground. Eclipse chasers and well placed sky enthusiasts captured many other interesting and artistic images of the year's only annular solar eclipse, including movies, eclipse shadow arrays, and rings of fire. Another partial solar eclipse will be visible from the Philippines in July. That event, however, will likely be better remembered as a total solar eclipse visible to those occupying a long thin swath of Earth that starts in India and extends through China into the Pacific Ocean.

How I wish I was able to witness this amazing nature wonder since the Manila Bay is actually just a 15-minute drive from where I live, but I was so deep in slumber at the time it happened.

Oh well, I can only wish I could catch the total solar eclipse in July.

MM - I Don't Wanna Be - Gavin DeGraw

I have been doing a DVD marathon lately, in fact, I spent this past weekend watching the TV series One Tree Hill. So, it's no surprise that the song I Don't Wanna Be by Gavin DeGraw -which is one of the official soundtrack of the series- has been playing in my mind over and over again. I just can't get over it, I even try to sing it out loud even if I don't really know the lyrics. Now, I know it by heart LOL!

So here's my first featured alternative/pop song here in Music Monday. Enjoy and have a cool rockin' week everyone!
